A snapshot of my life

I feel like I am 23.

I fully identify with this Monday through to Friday:

Aaron and I met on the London Underground. He walked past me at the station and I got onto his tube carriage as I wanted to see more of him. We were married in Sydney within a year of meeting. That was 12 years ago. He is amazing and enhances my life.

Our wedding day – 14 February!!

I rely on my instincts a lot.

I adore coffee. So it is perfect that we live next door to a coffee shop. The smell of coffee and noise of clinking cups often wakes me up at the weekend.

We love travelling. Especially to Australia (Aaron’s homeland). I lived in Istanbul for 2 years at the turn of the millennium – it is an amazing city. Great vibe.

I have a beautiful family. My nieces and nephews rock my world.

I love our apartment. Especially the jumble of artwork in our hallway. That sounds like we are fancy. We are not. Our collection comprises pieces from eBay; various street markets in London; pieces collected from our travels and photos found deep inside junk shops and then re-framed. Here are just a few of my favourite pieces:

I adore words. I am terrible at maths.

Even though I have lived in London for 16 years now, I grew up in the countryside. So I love empty spaces. Walking makes me feel amazingly happy. Especially rambling in the drizzle with my hood up.

My day job is being a lawyer. Which is why I named this blog Lexa. Lex = latin for law. I stuck the “a” on the end to make it more feminine. I like the way the combination of letters sit together on the white screen.

My name is actually Rachel.

This blog focuses on things that make my eyes, ears or heart, happy. Life is way too short not to flag up the fabulous things along the way.

I love reading other people’s blogs. And receiving comments on mine.

So do leave one and I will reply.

Ciao X

      1. Haha! Well put. Would much better be a word person than a number person any day! 😀 My calculator is for numbers. No one can order your words for you. Right, better get running. Just about to have a little run in the machine. 😀

  3. One of the best ‘About Me’s I’ve read … makes me want to go and redo mine … but, although I’m Irish, I don’t have the gift of the gab. I’ve clicked on Follow so I can come back to read more of your stories.

  7. Hi Rachel, I have loved looking at your photos….I am an Aussie, wishing to spend 12 months living in the Cotswolds! My husband of 26 years is from the UK and immigrated to Australia in the late 60’s. I look forward to more from you and browsing your blog as time permits.

    1. Do it! The Cotswolds is just stunning, you would love living there! Even if for 12 months. My dad was a £10 pom in the 50s and, as you know from above, my hubs is an Aussie. So I have a great affinity to your beautiful country. Ditto re: looking at your blog. Great to have connected.

    1. Hi Ellen! So awesome that you have had a look around my blog and left a lovely comment. YES, England is an amazing country. I am so happy that you love it. You are so lucky living in Cornwall – it is a stunning corner of our little island. How long have you lived here? Have you visited the Midlands / north yet? It is sooooo pretty there (although I am slightly biased as that is where I was born 😀). So great to be connected. Stay in touch. R

      2. Obviously as I am a woman, I still have to do the washing, empty the dishwasher, prepare for visitor tomorrow, go shopping, plan meals for the weekend, pay a bill, change the bed, clean the bathroom and chat to daughter on Skype, while fighting off the mother of all colds. But the medication has worked. Unlike TH who refuses all medication and cold remedies as he is a man, which also means he still can’t get out of bed or do the simplest things until this virulent flu strain has passed through his delicate body….

Everything here is so endearing 🙂 Whether it is that picture of you and your wonderful man or the simple way you have narrated which makes it so charming or your love for coffee 😉 ( I am huge caffeine addict as well! ) And I am totally with you on this one as well. “Life is way too short not to flag up the fabulous things along the way.” I hope we see more of each other in this world of awesome blogs. 15. Where to start. I have to say your smiling faces completely filled my heart and soul. This is one of the most captivating and beautiful “about me” pages I have been privileged to see. I shall introduce myself, I’m Belinda, pleased to meet you both. Thank you for sharing these stunning photographs. I am and have always been a nature lover, particularly wide open spaces. Country life is the only life I know and I love it. With certainty I will enjoy your photography! I look forward to exploring your blog and knowing you better. 17. Hi Susan!

So great to hear from you and thanks so much for taking the time out of your day to leave your very kind comment. It has made me feel very happy indeed. 😀

Awesome to be in contact with another lawyer blogging about non-legal stuff! I am looking forward to properly checking out your blog further. I would also love to hear more about being an assistant dean at a law school. Have you blogged about this yet? (Or is it a bit too difficult with anonymity etc?).

The internet connection at my parents over the long weekend wasn’t great so I am a bit behind on reading as many of your posts as I wanted to. But will as soon as I can.

Have a great rest of the week.

    Best wishes,
